[ Even after all this time, he knows Yata so well. Fushimi adjusts his glasses before gripping his hand and dragging him into an adjacent room. It's one of the lower paid subordinate's rooms, but there's a bed, which is what they need, and a door, which he shoves Yata against once it's closed. He fists his hand in his hair and pins him in with his body. ]
Do you want an apology? I'm not giving you something you don't deserve. [ His other arm comes up to wedge itself under his chin, the red wristband bright against the paleness of Yata's skin. The harshness drops from his voice. ] I miss you.
[ I miss you. The weight of those words hurts and he can't even bring himself to hide it. Neither of them can apologize for the events that led to this, it's too late for it. ]
I'm right here, Saru. [ He looks him in the eye, not fighting the arm across his neck or the fingers pulling at his hair. ] I'm right here so stop missing me, already.
[ And that expression sends him right back to the beginning of everything. When he'd met Yata, how they'd become friends despite Fushimi's reluctance to try at first, their relationship. Fushimi relaxed his arm and slid his hand away. ]
You can have the bed. [ He needed to get away. ] No one will bother you unless it's important.
[ Normally, he'd pursue the issue or claim that he was taking the other side of the bed, but Fushimi knows they need some time. Though Yata may think he's self-centered, cold and uncaring, he's going to prove otherwise. Hand resting on the door, he glances at him over his shoulder. ]
We will talk later. [ And he leaves without another word. ]
[ He watches him leave with conflicted feelings, but he doesn't stop him. And when he's alone Yata goes and collapses on the bed for a few hours. He hates to admit it, but Scepter4's beds were pretty damn comfortable. When Yata finally wakes up, his head is clear for the first time in a long time, and he knows he needs to talk to Fushimi.
It takes a while to find Fushimi's room, and he has to bully a subordinate to get the information. When he gets there, he finds the door locked and instead of knocking he... melts the handle with his flame and forces the door open.
Regardless of whether Fushimi woke up from that, he walks in. ] Oi.
[ Unfortunately, he's not asleep—and he hasn't been. Fushimi is sitting at a table with his PDA and a laptop, working. It's dull, and he's been bored since he started. Needless to say, Yata's intrusion is both welcome, somewhat expected, and annoying. He pushes up his glasses and gives him a momentary glance before returning to typing. ]
Did you need something? Nothing significant has changed in the negotiations.
[ He shuts the door behind him, not that the door is going to latch very well after the treatment Yata just gave it. But knowing Fushimi he'll appreciate the illusion of privacy the door provides. ]
[ What the hell does he say to Fushimi? They're both so choked on old feelings that it's a miracle they can even breath properly. He swallows, a pit forming in his stomach as he tries to find the right words. ]
[ He hadn't actually thought to hear Yata ever say that. Perhaps he'd entertained the idea, but this day had been practically nonexistent in his mind. Fushimi rubs at his cheek, considering what to do in response. ] Misaki— [ Slowly, he stands up and offers his hand to him. ]
[ He walks over cautiously, too wary about being hurt again after opening himself up. But despite that he does stand in front of Fushimi, hands unclenched in a sign of peace. ]
[ Fushimi doesn't say another word to him. Instead, he leans in and slides his arms around Yata's shoulders to draw him into a close embrace. It's a hard memory to face, that this used to be so much easier and less complicated than it is now. But he's too stubborn to retreat and admit defeat. Instead, he just clutches at him and closes his eyes. ]
[ He's tense for a moment in the hug, but that drains away as he finds his face pressed into Fushimi's neck. He's warm and all at once nostalgic of when gestures like this weren't so heavy with emotions. Yata wraps his arms around Fushimi's back, fisting into the material of his blue coat lightly. ]
[ He's quiet for a while, tightening his grip on him at the first touch of his hand to his back, and Fushimi knows it might be a long time before Yata trusts him like he did once. Still, it's progress. He likes progress just as much as he likes holding his once best friend this way. After a few minutes, he decides to say something. ]
I would like to try again. [ Carefully choosing his words, he hugs him even tighter. ] I'm willing to start over if we have to.
Start over...? Not possible, we've got too much between us t'start that fresh. [ He tightens his hold on Fushimi's coat so he can't pull back and put up new walls between them. ] But trying again sounds like somethin' we can do.
Che. You're so slow. [ He knows he isn't going to let him go, so he's resigned to standing there and leaning into him. Admittedly, it's something he's wanted for a while. Fushimi sighs quietly. ] How?
I dunno. Just kinda ease back into it? [ Since they basically stumbled face first into their relationship the first time. In Fushimi's case he leapt face first into it. ]
I am too. [ And it was the most fun they'd both had. Yata certainly can't deny that. Fushimi can't either. He moves his hand to touch the ends of his hair. ] The negotiations should be over soon. We can discuss what to do after the terms have been set.
[ Normal people? Fushimi leans back, cocking his head to look at him. A little suspicious at first, but he can't stop the smile slipping across his face. He grabs his hand. ]
I accept. Let's go right now. [ He didn't specify when or where. Fushimi doesn't actually care either. A gentle tug, and he turns, expecting Yata to follow him. ]
[ He can't help grinning either, it's impulsive but he can't resist that smile. He follows after him, letting Fushimi lead the way through the mansion. ]
Kusanagi-san's gonna be pissed I skipped out on the negotiations.
[ He's already decided where they're going to go too, some small take-out place nearby that might have something he'd actually eat. Fushimi doesn't release his grip on Yata's wrist either, smug at the way most of the subordinates around them rush to get out of the way. ]
Tell him you were busy. You're not missing much anyway.
It's not like it matters. [ It's said under his breath. He doesn't want to talk about Kusanagi or the negotiations. He only wants to talk about them. Fushimi quickly pulls him out into the courtyard, heading for the gates. A glance back at him. ] I haven't done this in a long time, Misaki.
